Awards

The Housing Authority of Henderson has received numerous awards over the years from state and federal agencies. For the past seventeen years the Housing Authority of Henderson has been identified as a high performer by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) assessment system. Our most recent 2019 performance evaluation score of 92 out of 100, included top grades in the areas of physical properties, financial reporting and managerial organization. The Housing Authority of Henderson also received the PHA Sustained Financial Viability Award.

Our inventory of public housing properties range in age of initial construction from the 1950’s to our newest LEED certified property, Winter’s Place Apartments, and Huffman Square Apartments. Even with over 70% property inventory over 50 years of age, in 2008,2010,and 2014 the Housing Authority of Henderson received a high performance scores on physical inspections.

In June of 2010, and June of 2019, public housing students as part of the CAT Center-After School Program, received top state honors from the Kentucky Housing Association for artwork produced around the theme of “What Home Means to Me”.

The prestigious, “Public Housing Authority of the Year ” for Kentucky in 2005 was awarded by HUD, and showcases our commitment to providing the best in public housing to our residents. The Housing Authority of Henderson was again recognized and awarded Large PHA of the Year at the annual Kentucky Housing Association meeting in September 2019.

National recognition was given for the Cabell-Platt Medical Center from SERC-NAHRO (Housing Organization) for providing quality healthcare resident initiatives. This neighborhood community healthcare center is a partnership between Methodist Hospital and the Housing Authority and provides direct healthcare services to our resident population within walking distance of many we serve.

In 2004, the “Newsletter of the Year” award from the Kentucky Housing Association.

As we consistently seek to provide nationally recognized public housing alongside award winning resident programming, one of our primary initiatives that continues to guide our efforts is, offering “life-changing” opportunities to the residents we serve.
