After School CAT Program

Our Mission Statement
To provide youth and their families the opportunity and resources to obtain their highest academic, social, and personal potential through a safe and supportive environment, with emphasis on education and promoting self-worth and empowerment.

In order to provide the best service to your child, our after school programming will be centered on academic success, a healthy self-image, and positive recreational activity.

Various types of programming for different age groups are offered from 2:45-5:00 pm each weekday. Each day upon arrival at the CAT Center a healthy snack is served. Staff is available to assist each child with homework, but it is left up to parents to check their children’s homework for completion.

Tutoring and homework completion are a first priority at the CAT Center. After completing their homework, children can choose an activity of personal interest offered that day. Afternoon programming and activities rotate on a daily basis. Recreational, cultural and social options make for a well rounded after school experience for the children.

Our special programming includes:

  • Tutoring
  • Computer Lab
  • Girl Power
  • Guest Speakers
  • Awards & Recognition
  • Nutrition & Fitness
  • Reading Club
  • Art & Music Clubs
  • Family Nights
  • Science Club
  • Community Service Projects

Our after school program operates alongside the calendar school year (August-June) each year. Public housing residents can obtain enrollment applications for their children from Donna Rigsby, director of the after school program. She can be reached at 270 827-1294 or at drigsby@hahenderson.org.

The CAT Center also offers a summer program for youth. Dates and times vary each year for this program.
