We have an active seniors program at the Housing Authority offering many opportunities for our 55 and older residents. Recreational, social and healthy living activities and programs are scheduled on a monthly basis.

Transportation
GRITS van operated by Audubon Area. In order to utilize this transportation service you must be certified. For assistance in certification through Audubon Area please call: 1 800 999 4748. If you are Medicaid elegible please contact 1 866 348 8579. This service is available to you for transportation to doctor’s appointments, the grocery store and other important travel needs.

Demand Response Service Van
This convenient transportation service is operated by the City of Henderson. Certification is required in order to utilize this service. Please contact 270 831 1249 for information regarding certification. This local transportation service is provided to individuals traveling within the Henderson city limits. Price of service is one dollar each direction (outbound and return) of travel, two dollars round trip.

Education Programs
Special presentations by a different guest speaker take place each month at 840 North Adams and Fagan Square Recreational Hall. The topics include; health initiatives, legal matters and informative suggestions for improving daily living all for the 55 and older age group.

Health and Home Health Services
Each week a Home Health Agency provides free blood pressure clinics at our senior recreation halls. Flu shot clinics and other health fairs are held annually.

Referrals
As need arises for specialty services within our community, we are here to assist you in making specific referrals to different local resources. For example some of the local agencies we can put you in contact with provide; dental assistance, eye care assistance, prescription assistance, rental assistance and food.

Senior Companion Program
Senior Companions are volunteers 55 and older who provide assistance to primarily older adults who have on or more physical, emotional or mental health limitations and are in need of assistance to achieve independent living. Other Services
We assist in arranging Flu Shot Clinics provided by the Health Department each October for our residents. We also provide assistance to those who are elegible for the LIHEAP program. In addition we work with several Home Health Agencies in our community to assure our residents receive the best possible health related care.
